Newcastle eye Michael Olise alternative to replace £60k-p/w star
Another star who has been linked with a move to St James' Park of late is Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, with recent reports claiming Newcastle, Chelsea and Bayern Munich had all made contact with the Eagles regarding a move for the Englishman.
However, given Newcastle have no European football in 2024/25 and both Bayern and the Blues are more established top European sides, the Magpies may face a tough battle when it comes to persuading the player, who has a reported £60m release clause, to join them.
In turn, it is not too surprising to see alternative transfer targets emerging for Newcastle. Give Me Sport report that the Magpies know Olise may be too "ambitious" of a target, but definitely want to sign a right-winger this summer, so are looking at Juventus and Italy star Federico Chiesa instead.
Chiesa has already earned high praise from England, including from Manchester United and Premier League legend Rio Ferdinand, who previously labelled the winger as "fantastic".
"He’s just a fantastic footballer," he said. "The intensity with which he plays with, we saw in the Euros he was the main goal threat for the Italians who went on to win the tournament."
The report adds that Chiesa could be available for half the price of Olise, which would put his transfer fee at about £30m.
This is perhaps seen as a low sum for a player of his quality, but his contract is set to expire in 2025, which means the Turin-based out may need to sell this summer or risk losing him for free. To help fund a move for the Italian, the Magpies are said to be willing to part ways with Miguel Almiron, who is currently earning £60,000-a-week on a deal that runs until 2026.

Johann Myburgh has been appointed as the first permanent regional head coach of South East Stars, the women’s centre of excellence that covers the Kent and Surrey regions in the ECB’s reconfigured structure.Myburgh, 40, takes over from Jonathan Batty, who filled the role on an interim basis during this season’s inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, which was a shortened tournament due to the Covid-19 outbreak.In a 21-year professional career, Myburgh went from being an Under-19 prodigy in his native South Africa to a potential New Zealand international after emigrating to Canterbury to begin a three-year qualification process.But he ultimately made his home in county cricket, joining Hampshire as a Kolpak in 2010, before a T20 spell at Durham and then a four-year association with Somerset, which ended with his retirement in 2018.Since then, Myburgh has worked as Assistant Head Coach at Sunrisers and Sydney Thunder in the WBBL. Gomes looks unlikely to be the last fresh face that Hobbs is left praising either. According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are close to agreeing personal terms with Jorgen Strand Larsen and a deal with Celta Vigo is "progressing fast". A player who can play all across the frontline, Larsen would certainly be a welcome addition to O'Neil's attack next season.

In Hwang Hee-chan, Wolves already have a clinical versatile forward to lead their line if he can remain fit throughout an entire campaign. Whilst Larsen wasn't as clinical as Hwang last season, underperforming his expected goals by just over one, his ability to consistently get himself scoring opportunities suggests that there's plenty more to come from the 24-year-old, while the finishing underperformance is small enough to be of no concern.

تحدث علاء نبيل، المدير الفني لاتحاد الكرة المصري، كواليس اختيار حلمي طولان، مديرًا فنيًا لمنتخب مصر “الثاني” الذي شارك في بطولة كأس العرب.
وكان منتخب مصر، ودع منافسات بطولة كأس العرب المقامة في قطر خلال الفترة الحالية، من دور المجموعات، بعد احتلاله المركز الثالث في مجموعته برصيد نقطتين من تعادلين وخسارة.
وقال نبيل خلال تصريحات عبر قناة “أون سبورت” لبرنامج “ملعب أون”: “اختيار حملي طولان لقيادة منتخب مصر، جاء من المهندس هاني أبو ريدة”.
وأضاف: “كان يوجد اجتماع للجنة الفنية، محسن صالح ومحمد عمر وعلي أبو جريشة وأحمد حسن كانوا موجودين، حيث تمت مناقشة فكرة أن يُكلف الكابتن حلمي طولان بتدريب منتخب مصر الثاني في بطولة كأس العرب، لكنه لم يوافق في البداية، ثم بعد يومين حضر هاني أبو ريدة وقال لحلمي “إنت هتمسك المنتخب”، فوافق حلمي طولان بعد عرض هاني أبو ريدة”.
وأضاف: “خلال الفترة الأخيرة، تم تداول العديد من التصريحات على لساني، لكنني أؤكد أنني لم أصرح ولم أتحدث إطلاقًا، أنتظر أن أري الموقف كاملًا، (أنا ضحية تصريحات)”.

وتابع: “حديث أحمد حسن مدير المنتخب وعضو اللجنة الفنية، أن اختيار الكابتن حلمي طولان من ترشيحي، أنا أكن كل احترام للكابتن حلمي وهو تاريخ كبير، ولكن الاختيار تم من قبل المهندس هاني أبو ريدة رئيس الاتحاد المصري والكل وافق في الاجتماع”.
وأضاف: “هاني أبو ريدة هو رأس المنظومة، رأيه هو الأساس واللجنة الفنية كلها توافق على قراراته، أنا أجلس في اجتماع اللجنة الفنية بحكم وظيفتي كمدير فني لاتحاد الكرة”.
وبسؤاله، هل كنت موافقًا على تعيين حلمي طولان، أوضح: “كنت موافقًا مع الجميع وليس رأيي فقط، الرأي في اتحاد الكرة يعود لهاني أبو ريدة فقط، والكل يوافق وهذا الواقع”.
وأكمل: “اختصاصات المدير الفني للاتحاد، ليس له علاقة باختيار المدير الفني للمنتخب الأول، (ماليش أي علاقة باختيارات المنتخب الأول تمامًا)، ولم أحضر أي تدريب سواء في فترات الانتصارات أو الإخفاقات وبالمناسبة، تشكيل المنتخب الثاني لبطولة كأس العرب يعد هو المنتخب الأول، وحلمي طولان وأحمد حسن كانا يجتمعان ويتواصلان مع هاني أبو ريدة مباشرة”.
وواصل: “كابتن حلمي طولان كان حريصًا ألا يدخل في أي احتكاك مع حسام حسن”.
وعن تواصل هاني أبو ريدة مع مدير فني أجنبي بدلًا منه في اتحاد الكرة، رد نبيل: “لم يتم إبلاغي بشكل رسمي ولا أي أحد تواصل معي من مجلس إدارة اتحاد الكرة بخصوص رحيلي أو قدوم مدرب أجنبي لتولي منصب مدير فني لاتحاد الكرة مكاني”.
وأتم: “أنا لم اتحدث ومستمر في عملي، التسريبات الإعلامية هي التي تحزنني فقط، من واجب واحترام مسؤولي اتحاد الكرة أن يتم الجلوس معي لتوضيح الأمر، لست باقيًا على المكان ولست متمسكًا به، أنا عملت ولدي كشف حساب خلال فترتي”.
