Cricket Australia (CA) chief executive James Sutherland has said Australia will ‘need to adjust to’ the conditions in the UAE for their upcoming series against Pakistan, but the required adjustment will not be ‘that significant’.Australia are set to play three Twenty20s and three ODIs in the UAE in in August and September, with the matches beginning in the late evening to avoid the worst of the daytime heat. The heat and the decision to start the one-dayers at 6pm – meaning the scheduled finish is 1.45am – continue to be an issue with the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) though.”It’ll be hot, but the sun’s not going to be shining and that’s probably the really important factor there,” Sutherland told . “In terms of the hours, it’s not ideal but at the same time it’s just an adjustment that the players will need to [make]. It’s the same for both teams.”There are many people in the world who work different hours and these will be different hours for our players, unconventional hours for cricket perhaps. But the game’s only going a couple of hours later than it would ordinarily, so I’m not sure that adjustment is really that significant.”CA officials will visit the UAE next week, to assess the conditions. There had been much debate over the actual make-up of the series, which is a ‘home’ series for Pakistan. The ACA had expressed its concerns about playing ODIs in such hot weather, prompting the series to be changed to a six-match Twenty20 affair, which was approved by the ICC in June. However, the PCB then approached the Australian board, putting forward a request to review the composition of the series once again. ESPNcricinfo understands that the series’ broadcaster had objected to six Twenty20s for commercial reasons. The new schedule was announced by the PCB earlier this month.The venue of the series had also been an issue. It was initially scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka but Pakistan were forced to search for an alternate venue after Sri Lanka backed out in May, citing the clash in the dates with the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier League.

Pela primeira vez, o Grêmio terá na cidade do Rio de Janeiro a possibilidade de observar novos atletas e trazê-los diretamente ao clube através do Núcleo de Captação de Atletas que implementou na capital carioca.

A inauguração desse Núcleo ocorreu no último sábado (29) e, além do aspecto prático de estar em um novo centro de observação, a medida também tem forte tom de atuação social. Isso porque o local escolhido para esse Núcleo foi a favela da Rocinha, maior comunidade carente do Rio.

Para que o projeto pudesse se tornar realidade, quem atuou em parceria com o Grêmio nessa empreitada foi a Organização Não-Governamental (ONG) Novos Talentos, entidade conhecida por gerenciar projetos que beneficiam a população da Rocinha há, pelo menos, 15 anos.

Um dos presentes no evento de inauguração, o assessor da presidência Gustavo Schmitz fez exatamente a interrelação em preencher tanto os interesses práticos e de analisar o surgimento de novos craques como a questão de ganho social com a presença do Núcleo de Captação de Atletas:

-Inauguramos este novo Núcleo de Captação no centro de uma comunidade tão carente, fincando a bandeira do Grêmio na região, com muito orgulho. Dessa forma ajudamos a criar uma oportunidade de engajamento para estes jovens através do esporte, para que eles possam encontrar um caminho do bem, saindo de uma situação vulnerável. É a base do Grêmio participando dessas ações que ampliam a marca e nos dá a chance de captar novos talentos para o Tricolor.

كشف وليد عبد الوهاب رئيس هيئة استاد القاهرة عن تلقيه خطابًا رسميًا يفيد موعد مباراة الأهلي والهلال السوداني المقبلة، في بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا.

الأهلي يستعد لملاقاة الهلال السوداني في مباراة مصيرية، لتحديد المتأهل الثاني عن المجموعة الثانية إلى دور ربع النهائي، من بطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا.

وقال عبد الوهاب في تصريحات خاصة لـ”بطولات”: “تلقينا خطابًا رسميًا من الأهلي بإقامة لقاء الهلال السوداني يوم 1 إبريل المقبل، في التاسعة مساءً”.

وتابع: “تمت الموافقة على إقامة اللقاء على استاد القاهرة الدولي”.

واختتم: “نحن جاهزون لاستقبال أي عدد جماهيري في مباراة الأهلي والهلال السوداني تحدده الجهات الأمنية”.

Chris Gayle’s expected return to the West Indies team has been delayed after no decision could be arrived at during Monday’s high-level meeting, which was expected to resolve the year-long dispute between the player and the West Indies Cricket Board. Chaired by Prime Minister of St Vincent, Ralph Gonsalves, the meeting was also attended by WICB chief executive, Ernest Hilaire and officials from CARICOM.A resolution would have seen the former captain available for West Indies team’s ongoing series against Australia, which continues till April 27. Gayle, however, is contracted to represent Bangalore Royal Challengers in this year’s IPL from April 4 to May 27 and county side Somerset, in the English Twenty20 tournament. The clash of dates between the West Indies team’s international commitments (the current series is followed by a tour of England between May 5 and June 24) and Gayle’s contractual obligations could be a possible reason for the delay in the talks.Before the meeting, the had reported that Gayle was likely to either submit an apology or retract his comments made against the board and the coach Ottis Gibson during a radio interview.In February, the WICB chief executive Ernest Hilaire said he wanted Gayle to make his priorities clear, saying that Gayle could not ask for unconditional no-objection certificates (NOCs) to play domestic Twenty20 tournaments around the world and simultaneously make himself available for West Indies selection.Gayle attended Runako Morton’s funeral in St Kitts on Saturday and was spotted in the stands during West Indies’ second ODI against Australia, in St Vincent. Graeme Smith, South Africa’s Test captain, will undergo surgery on his left ankle that has been troubling him with chronic pain over the previous two months. The decision was arrived at after consultation with Cricket South Africa’s ankle specialist, who detected an impingement syndrome of the ankle, South Africa team manager Mohammad Moosajee said.”Graeme went to see CSA’s ankle specialist in Cape Town on Friday and he confirmed that the best management of the chronic pain in his ankle is surgery,” Moosajee said in a CSA release. “The recovery period after such a surgery usually takes eight to ten weeks, and he will subsequently not be able to represent Pune Warriors at the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League in India.”The surgery will be performed next Tuesday, to allow Smith enough time to make a full recovery in time for South Africa’s tour of England in July. “My ankle has been troubling me for some time so it will be a relief to have it repaired, especially looking ahead to the crucial year of cricket ahead,” Smith said.”I’m very disappointed to be missing out on the IPL this year. I was looking forward to my second season with Pune Warriors, especially after my knee set me back last season.”Smith had played four games in the 2011 IPL, before an injury to his right knee – picked up during a collision with his team-mate Rahul Sharma while fielding against the now defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala franchise – ruled him out. He eventually underwent surgery on the knee last July.
