West Ham United are capable of securing a deal to bring Eden Hazard to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a claim made by Peter O’Rourke, with the journalist stating his belief in a recent interview with GIVEMESPORT that David Moyes’ side have the financial capability to seal a deal for the Real Madrid winger this winter, before going on to suggest that the 30-year-old’s signing would be a real signal of intent from the Champions League hopefuls.

Speaking about the Hammers’ reported interest in the Belgium international, O’Rourke said: “West Ham, they can offer him Premier League football, and could match his wages – you can never say never in football. It would be a real signal of intent if West Ham can convince Eden Hazard to move to the London Stadium.”

Lingard 2.0

Considering the success Moyes achieved after signing Jesse Lingard on a four-month loan deal in the second half of last season, with the attacking midfielder going on to bag nine goals and five assists over just 16 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, should the Scottish manager be able to secure a deal for Hazard this winter, he could well repeat his Lingard masterclass of last term.

Indeed, there are clear similarities between the situations of each player, with Hazard having featured in just 13 fixtures for Los Blancos so far this season, only six of which have come as starts – something that was a very similar case to that of Lingard at Manchester United last time out.

However, with the greatest of respect to Lingard, although he is one year the Belgian’s junior, should West Ham be able to secure the £13m-rated Hazard in January, he is undoubtedly a player who has a far higher ceiling regarding potential returns in comparison to the England international.

Indeed, over his 245 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, the £381k-per-week man scored a whopping 81 goals and registered 61 assists, as well as winning two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles and the 2014/15 Premier League player of the year award.

As such, while the man who Rudi Garcia claimed is a “unique” talent with an “irreplaceable style” has not enjoyed the best of times since his £103.5m move to Real Madrid back in 2019, if Moyes can do a similar job on the Belgian to the one he did with Lingard, West Ham could well have a world-beater on their hands for the second half of the current campaign – leading us to believe that the Hammers should do all they can to secure a £21m deal for the winger in the coming weeks.

In a recent post on Twitter, The Telegraph journalist revealed that Quantuma – the joint administrators of Derby County – are close to naming their preferred bidder for the club, with an announcement expected next week.

Percy went on to state that Wayne Rooney’s side are currently in talks with three potential buyers: the Kirchner group, a local consortium with who the Rams’ former chairman and owner Peter Gadsby is involved and one other unnamed party.

Finally, the journalist claims that, although there are still a number of factors that need to be ironed out in order to complete the club’s sale, Quantuma are in fact confident that Derby will secure a new owner in the not too distant future.

In his tweet, Percy said: “Quantuma close to naming preferred bidder, but not until next week at earliest. In talks with 3 parties: Kirchner group, a local consortium with former chairman/owner Peter Gadsby involved + 1 other. Still numerous factors to consider, but Quantuma confident of a sale.”

Fans will be buzzing

Considering just how bad things have become at Derby in recent months, with the future of the club very much appearing to be up in the air, Percy’s latest update will undoubtedly have left fans of the Rams buzzing.

After an impressive run of seven games without defeat, Crystal Palace find themselves in a blip, having lost their last three in the Premier League.

However, the £18m-rated forward made his return to first-team action last month as he was included on the bench against Burnley and has made cameos against Aston Villa and Manchester United since.

Now fit, the Englishman could offer his manager a much-needed alternative out wide with the Eagles set to play six league games in under three weeks.

Described as “ridiculous” and a “star boy” by sections of the Palace fanbase, Eze can play on the left, but has also been deployed as a “creative, dynamic” number ten which could offer Vieira versatility should the Frenchman opt to set up with an alternative to his much-used 4-3-3.

Supporters aren’t the only ones who have waxed lyrical about the young forward with Steve McLaren hailing his “great talent” and Gary Cahill calling him “phenomenal.”

Furthermore, the 23-year-old is an impressive set-piece taker, scoring a free-kick against Leeds United last season and delivering quality balls for his teammates on occasion. That would supply Vieira with yet more armoury and further reason to select him against Everton on Sunday.

In the past, there have been concerns about the average age of Crystal Palace’s squad, suggesting it’s too old. However, the South Londoners now have a handful of bright, young talents and Eze is certainly one of them; he deserves a chance.

No Dia do Professor, quem ensinou no início da partida foi o Bahia. Com um ritmo intenso e boas trocas de passes, a equipe encurralou o Corinthians em seu campo de defesa. O Tricolor assustou em cruzamento de Edigar Junio e chegou até a marcar com Zé Rafael, que estava em posição de impedimento e teve seu gol anulado corretamente.

O ritmo do Bahia, é claro, começou a cair com o decorrer do primeiro tempo. O Corinthians equilibrou o jogo e teve a melhor chance com Jô, que recebeu cruzamento perfeito de Romero, cabecou para o chão e viu Jean salvar. Do outro lado, Cássio também teve de fazer boas defesas em chute de Zé Rafael e cruzamento perigoso de Eduardo.

No segundo tempo, as equipes sofreram para criar chances. Com muitos erros de passes e novamente com Jadson e Rodriguinho sem inspiração, o Corinthians praticamente não ameaçou o Bahia. O técnico Fábio Carille colocou Marquinhos Gabriel e Clayson, mas o cenário continuou o mesmo.

O Bahia também tinha muitas dificuldades para criar, mesmo após a entrada de Régis no lugar de Rodrigão. A equipe, porém, “achou” um gol aos 26 minutos. Após lançamento para a área, Fagner dominou para sair jogando e não viu Edigar Junio dar um toque. A bola sobrou para Vinicius, que chutou forte, sem chances para Cássio.

Após o gol, o Corinthians, que então controlava a partida e não tinha pressa para ir ao ataque, tentou pressionar em busca do empate. Só que novamente os jogadores erraram muitos passes e não conseguiram boas jogadas. O Bahia, por sua vez, se fechou, tentou sair em contra-ataques e “achou” outro gol já nos acréscimos. Cássio foi para a área no desespero, a equipe recuperou a bola e Régis não teve trabalho para empurrar para o fundo da rede.

Com a derrota, o Corinthians liga o sinal de alerta. Não só porque a diferença na liderança diminuiu, mas também por conta da outra atuação abaixo. E na próxima rodada, o Timão recebe justamente o Grêmio, na quarta-feira, em Itaquera.

Caso o planejamento cruz-maltino aconteça conforme o esperado internamente, o goleiro voltará aos trabalhos em campo até o fim da semana.

Liverpool had a quiet summer when it came to making signings, despite letting go of one of their most reliable midfielders in Gini Wijnaldum who made the move from Merseyside to Paris St Germain.

However, there’s a chance that Klopp may have seen the light after several injury and fitness issues in the midfield that have been plaguing the side since Wijnaldum’s departure.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool are interested in signing 25-year-old Napoli midfielder, Fabian Ruiz.

Liverpool will have competition to secure the Spaniard’s signature as his connection to Ancelotti has caused constant speculation of a Real Madrid move, meaning Jurgen Klopp will need to act fast in making him an offer he can’t refuse.

The report claims that Ruiz would be the ‘ideal candidate’ to become a key part of the Liverpool midfield, as the club does not want to fall back into the problems of the past before Klopp’s arrival at the club, and will hope to continue to dominate in their winning ways.

Do Liverpool need a new midfielder?

The £40.5m-rated gem has gained interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Barcelona, as he continues to impress for Napoli with five goals and three assists in eighteen appearances so far for the Serie A side.

Ruiz was hailed a “very talented” player by his former coach, Carlos Ancelotti, an appraisal that sums up why a move for the Spaniard must be made.

There is no doubt Liverpool have felt the sting of losing Wijnaldum, in the sense of his availability and fitness, which is something that most of their midfielders have proved they can’t offer enough of this season. However, the reason Klopp may not have felt the need to replace Wijnaldum is that the Liverpool midfield is full of incredible talent.

Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho and Curtis Jones, to name a few, have delivered outstanding performances this season with the former most notably scoring a screamer against Porto in the Champions League. Jones is another to dominate the Portuguese opposition, registering two assists in the first fixture.

However, their inconsistencies with fitness and habits of picking up knocks means they can’t be always relied on to be fit for games where vital points are needed. Thus, Ruiz could come in and finally fill the Wijnaldum shaped hole in the middle of the park.

Liverpool are still in every single competition available to them, including the FA Cup and Champions League, meaning these reliability issues are a big concern for the manager, which is why bringing in a fresh pair of legs with bags of potential to become a consistent midfielder for the Reds could be the difference between winning trophies or missing out for another season.

Celtic have been dealt a potential double injury blow ahead of their upcoming Scottish Premiership fixture.

In recent comments cited by the Daily Record, Ange Postecoglou revealed that both Carl Starfelt and Greg Taylor are nearing a return from their respective injuries, however, the 56-year-old expects neither the left-back nor the centre-back to be available for selection for the visit of Hearts on Thursday.

After revealing that both Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton look set to feature in the midweek fixture, the Bhoys boss then said: “Carl Starfelt isn’t too far away, Greg Taylor isn’t too far away, so we are getting some troops back. It’s a heavy schedule and we don’t want our level of performance to drop.”

Fans will be gutted

Considering the fact that Celtic can take a huge step towards making the Scottish Premiership title race a two-horse battle with a victory over third-placed Hearts, the news that both Taylor and Starfelt look as if they will miss out on the fixture is sure to have left fans of the club gutted.

Indeed, left-back has been a problem area for the Hoops so far this season, with Postecoglou often being left with no other choice than to field right-back Josip Juranovic out of position on the opposite flank, due to a lack of strength in depth on the left-hand side of the 56-year-old’s backline.
