Goa pushed their chances of making it to the knockouts with an eight-wicket win against Andhra after wrapping them up for 160 on the third day in Porvorim. They lost their chance of grabbing seven points after losing the openers in pursuit of 42. Goa are now placed second in Group C with 28 points but can be displaced by Jammu & Kashmir, who are three points behind.Continuing from their overnight 32 for 3, Murumulla Sriram and B Sudhakar brought up their 50-run stand after playing over 30 overs in the morning. Offspinner Amit Yadav broke the stand and started a collapse as Andhra lost four more wickets for 18 runs. Left-arm spinner Shadab Jakati took three of those four to end with 3 for 68 while Yadav took the fourth to finish with 3 for 44 to take his match tally to nine wickets.D Shivkumar and Kakani Harish resisted with a partnership of 53 in less than 12 overs, avoiding an innings defeat, but Harshad Gadekar took the last two wickets in three deliveries to wrap the innings for 160. Harish scored a quick 31 from 49 with four fours and a six while Shivkumar was unbeaten on 26.Goa lost Amogh Desai and Swapnil Asnodkar for low scores before reaching the target in 15 overs.

Assam were 94 for 4 at stumps, and needing 250 to win with opener Dheeraj Jadhav unbeaten on 37.Maharashtra, 16 for 0 overnight, lost Rohit Motwani in the first over of the day to Abu Nechim, who also dismissed Chirag Khurana four overs later. Medium-pacer Nizar Niyas took three wickets but Kerala took only four wickets in the day as Hyderabad reached a position where they could think of winning the match on the last day.Resuming on 46 for 1, Hyderabad lost two wickets quickly when Bavanaka Sandeep and Dwaraka Ravi Teja were caught off Niyas for 30 and 2 respectively, leaving them 90 for 3. Quadri scored 74, his 12th first-class fifty, before being bowled by Padmanabhan Prasanth with Hyderabad’s score 224. Vihari was joined by Amol Shinde and the two stitched a stand of 76 before Vihari was caught behind off Niyas for 145. Shinde was unbeaten on 48 and Ashish Reddy on 19.

Both fell in quick succession; Rishi was run out for 78 and Rasool was caught behind off Saha for a 92-ball 83, which featured 11 fours. J&K failed to capitalise on the strong start and lost their last six wickets for 110 runs. Only Hardeep Singh made a sizeable contribution, 52 off 60, as Saha and pacer Rana Dutta shared the last five wickets to curtail J&K’s lead to 45.Tripura lost Samrat Singha for 9 in the 16th over to Rasool and the captain then caught the other opener, KB Pawan, for 30, with the score on 75. Tripura added 28 to that score and stretched the lead to 58. Having taken the first-innings lead, J&K will want to extend that to an outright win. That result will move them ahead of Goa, who are second on the table with 28 points. If J&K and Tripura draw, three points will place J&K level with Goa and, with both having won an equal number of games, qualification will come down to the quotient.

Há cerca de um mês que Rafael Galhardo se recupera de uma cirurgia no ligamento cruzado anterior do joelho direito na Toca da Raposa II. Ainda sem poder voltar a jogar, o atleta está em fase de transição, realizando fisioterapia e participando de leves treinos junto ao elenco. Segundo o diretor médico do Cruzeiro, Fernando Loppes, o lateral ainda não tem previsão para fazer sua estreia.

– Ele saiu da preparação física e iniciou, nesta semana, a parte de campo. Ele está evoluindo muito bem clinicamente. O joelho dele é estável, não tem nenhum sintoma, derrame e nem dor. Agora, precisamos acompanhar o comportamento e evolução dele no campo. E é isso o que faremos ao longo desse próximo mês inteiro, ver o que vai acontecer em setembro e outubro. Considerando que é um jogador jovem e saudável e fez uma cirurgia de LCA (Ligamento Cruzado Anterior), que evoluiu bem e já está no sétimo mês de pós-operatório. A tendência é que à medida que o condicionamento dele evoluir e ele tiver condições em campo, ele possa jogar. Mas não temos data prevista – declarou o médico ao Superesportes.

A expectativa é grande, mas vale lembrar que o jogador não poderá atuar contra o Flamengo, pela Copa do Brasil, mesmo que reúna condições. Isto porque Galhardo foi contratado após o encerramento das inscrições de atletas para a competição. Sendo assim, o Cruzeiro só poderá contar com o lateral no Campeonato Brasileiro.

Revelado pelo Flamengo, Rafael Galhardo acumula passagens por Santos, Bahia, Grêmio, Anderlecht (BEL) e Atlético-PR. Sua lesão ocorreu durante as férias de janeiro, o que levou o jogador a rescindir com o Furacão. Antes de iniciar o processo de recuperação no Cruzeiro, Galhardo passou por tratamento no CT do Flamengo, no Rio de Janeiro.

It took exactly 19.5 overs for Bengal to wrap up the Services first innings for 304 and ensure three points by virtue of 127-run first innings lead from their fifth round group B encounter played at the Airforce ground in Palam today.Saurasish Lahiri was the most successful bowler for Bengal with 3 for 69, while Ashoke Dinda took 3 for 97. They both should be credited for slogging it out on a 22-yard track which is probably one of the flattest this season.Bengal scored 126 for 3 in their second innings as stumps was called. Laxmi Ratan Shukla and his boys now have 11 points from five matches and are still in the mix for a top three slot, but they would certainly need six points to stay there.Starting the day at 261 for 6 in pursuit of Bengal’s first innings score of 431, Services didn’t even have an outside chance of making a match of it once Soumya Swain (56) was dismissed without any addition to his overnight score. The left-hander padded an arm ball from left-arm spinner Iresh Saxena and was adjudged leg before. Swain faced 179 balls and hit six boundaries.Irfan Khan was then run-out for a duck as he raced for what was a non-existent single. Services were reduced to 267 for 8, still needing 15 runs to avoid a follow-on. After a couple of days of hard toil, Bengal’s team suddenly sniffed a chance to enforce the follow-on, and that led to an intriguing 30-minute period which saw an injured Suraj Yadav (42*) battling it out to ensure that Services got a point.The only interesting part of the last day’s play was Services’ reaching the magic figure of 282, while Bengal’s spinners, Lahiri and Saxena, tried hard to take the last two wickets. In fact, they came close to dismissing Yadav when he lifted Saxena towards long-on, but Lahiri, who was stationed there, lost the ball in the sunshine, with the ball landing just a couple of feet to his left.Lahiri made amends when he bowled Kanojia with a doosra, with the last man being run-out . With no chance of an outright result, it was a good opportunity for Arindam Das (50) to add to his first innings score of 165. Subhomoy Das (54) also got some runs under his belt as he faced 120 balls, hitting five fours and a six. The duo added 97 runs for the second wicket, and got some vital batting practice in the process.The most disappointing aspect of Bengal’s second innings was the approach employed by Anustup Majumdar (12*) and Sandipan Das (5*), who batted during the last ten overs of the match. With no possibility of losing, the duo didn’t even try a single positive shot against a part-time spinner like Anshul Gupta, as the last 45 minutes became rather dull.Bengal next meet group leaders Railways at the Jamia Milia Islamia ground, which has quite a lively track. It will be a test of character for Bengal’s batsmen as they face the trio of Krishnakant Upadhyay (13 wickets), Anureet Singh (18 wickets) and Ranjitkumar Mali (17 wickets) who have taken 48 wickets amongst themselves. With no Manoj Tiwary, Mohammed Shami and Wriddhiman Saha, it will be a Herculean task for Bengal to beat Railways.

Sarah Taylor’s century followed by a four-wicket haul from Holly Colvin helped England seal the three-match ODI series against West Indies with a resounding 89-run victory. The series finished 2-0, after the first match was rained out.Offspinner Anisa Mohammed got West Indies off to an assured start after they chose to bowl, denting England with four wickets in a tidy spell. England were simply unable to compose meaningful partnerships, but at her end No. 3 Sarah Taylor was immovable. She stuck around to craft a century under pressure, building on her unbeaten 55 from the previous match. She was dismissed by Shanel Daley on 100 off the last ball of the innings, the rest of the England line-up managing only 85 among them, extras included.The chase began terribly for the hosts; effective bowling combined with a couple of run-outs meant they were quickly reeling at 24 for 6. They never recovered. Only three batsmen were able to reach double figures as England’s bowlers kept a tight grip on proceedings. Holly Colvin was the stand out bowler for England, taking 4 for 17 in 8.4 overs. Despite the best efforts of Shaquana Quintyne, who scored 36, West Indies eventually folded for 96 in the 37th over.
