Australia are increasingly becoming a team bound to the singular vision of the coach Darren Lehmann, after it was announced that the senior assistant coach Steve Rixon had been jettisoned from the support staff of the national side.Rixon, who had been employed as fielding, spin bowling and assistant coach at various times in a role he began in 2011, and also deputised for Lehmann on the ODI tour of India last year, took his last sessions with the team around the Sydney ODI that preceded the Allan Border Medal presentation and did not fly to South Africa on Wednesday.Lehmann couched Rixon’s exit as part of a move away from catch-all assistant coaches to specialist consultants in various disciplines, from the appointment of Mike Young on a short-term contract to the use of Shane Warne to mentor the team’s spinners before the World Twenty20 to be played in Bangladesh after the South Africa tour.”I’ve taken the opportunity to look at our current coaching structure and the levels of support I feel we need moving into the future,” Lehmann said. “I’ve mentioned previously that I believe our players can really benefit from more dedicated skill-based training, which means more regular support from technical experts to help work on specific areas of performance.”This will see various coaches and experts in their field working with the team as and when it is needed. In recent times that’s included people like Mike Young to work on fielding while Shane Warne is going to work with our spinners in a short-term capacity ahead of the ICC World Twenty 20.”These changes to how we support our players means it is no longer necessary to have a full-time assistant coach travelling with the team. Steve has made an outstanding contribution to Australian cricket over a long period of time and played an important role with the national team since 2011.”Though he mentored the India touring team capably, in keeping with a long career where he has coached with great success with New South Wales, New Zealand and the Chennai Super Kings among others, Rixon’s place in the Australian set-up looked uncertain from the moment Young was called back to improve the team’s ground fielding ahead of the Ashes.He will be missed by several of the team’s NSW representatives in particular, as the captain Michael Clarke and his deputy Brad Haddin have each developed close relationships with Rixon at state and national levels. However, the spinner Nathan Lyon did not enjoy quite so successful a union when the former coach Mickey Arthur appointed Rixon to oversee slow bowling, ultimately preferring the counsel of John Davison.Over his first seven months in the job, Lehmann has gradually assembled his chosen coaching team, recalling Craig McDermott to work with the pace bowlers while also appointing his former Queensland colleague Damian Mednis as the team’s strength and conditioning coach instead of the Victorian David Bailey.Rixon was a candidate for the role of Sri Lanka coach last year, but ended negotiations when he concluded that the island nation’s salary package was insufficient. He remains under the employment of the Chennai Super Kings, enjoying a fruitful partnership with the former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming.

Tamim Iqbal has resigned as Bangladesh’s vice-captain to focus more on his batting. He informed the BCB through a letter to Akram Khan, the chairman of the cricket operations committee.The board had appointed Tamim as Mushfiqur Rahim’s deputy for the series against Sri Lanka four days before the Dhaka Test that started on January 27. He was given the same role on Saturday when Mashrafe Mortaza was named captain for the two-match Twenty20 series after Mushfiqur was rested due to a finger injury.”With such a long season coming up, I think it is in the best interest of the team that I focus on my batting,” Tamim said. “The role of the vice-captain has certain off-field duties, although it is not that visible on the field.”Nazmul Hassan, the BCB president, said that Mashrafe’s experience as an international captain convinced him to give the bowler the interim job.”Tamim Iqbal is a very important member of the national cricket team and he is a future leader,” Hassan said. “More than anything, it is his batting ability which is most significant to the fortunes of Bangladesh cricket. O Bonsucesso se prepara para voltar à primeira divisão do Campeonato Carioca e projeta voltar ao cenário nacional. A estreia do time, nesta quarta-feira, 29, às 15h, contra o Serrano, pela segunda divisão Estadual, põe como primeiro teste o investimento que o time da Leopoldina fez para retomar seu lugar na elite do Rio de Janeiro. Também serve para olhar a possibilidade de se classificar para o Campeonato Brasileiro Série D ou Copa do Brasil do próximo ano, a partir da Copa Rio que começa em junho.

O primeiro passo que o Bonsucesso deu foi trazer a maior parte da comissão técnica do Bangu que surpreendeu neste Carioca chegando na semifinal da Taça Rio, semifinal geral da competição e ainda classificando o time em outras duas competições nacionais em 2020: o Brasileiro Série D e a Copa do Brasil. Alguns atletas, como o lateral-direito Kelvin, o zagueiro Jeferson Siqueira e o volante Josiel, que atuaram em jogos do Alvirrubro, também reforçam a equipe rubro-anil.

– Dentro da nossa realidade, o tempo foi muito apertado para montar comissão, elenco e preparar o time. Mas aqui prezamos pelo planejamento e acredito que as primeiras escolhas foram corretas, assim como as dos atletas que foram certeiras, porque já vinham de um início de temporada em atividade e estão aptos para atuarem. Normal que ainda faltem alguns ajustes, mas o melhor foi feito e o resultado virá de acordo com o que foi trabalhado – explica Alan Paschoal, vice-presidente de futebol do Bonsucesso.

Para completar positivamente a maratona que eleva o time à primeira divisão carioca a partir da Série B1 e trilha o caminho para uma competição nacional a partir da sequência de mata-matas da Copa Rio, o Bonsucesso treina forte em Teixeira de Castro. O diretor executivo Luciano Portela vê no grupo as principais qualidades que podem atingir os objetivos traçados.

– Além da comissão técnica semifinalista do Campeonato Carioca, trouxemos o Luciano Quadros, um treinador muito qualificado com resultados aparentes no futebol do Rio de Janeiro, além de um elenco forte. Entendo que para disputar uma competição longa como a Série B1 e paralelo à Copa Rio você precisa ter um elenco forte, qualificado em que as mudanças de peças não sofram com o que é passado como metodologia de jogo – complementa Portela.

Por acaso a estreia do Bonsucesso será no Estádio Moça Bonita, em Bangu.

Pakistan’s conditional support for the ICC revamp hinges on the promise of six series against India, including a ‘home’ series in the Middle East as part of an upcoming, reworked eight-year FTP cycle from 2015 to 2023, ESPNcricinfo has learnt.The change in the PCB’s stance has taken place on the condition that Pakistan would be involved in bilateral series against all Full Members, including India. If Indo-Pak series are officially slotted into the eight-year FTP, it could also involve a ‘home’ series for Pakistan against India in the United Arab Emirates.The PCB is now waiting for a final confirmation from the BCCI following its Working Committee meeting, which the PCB have been informed, is expected to take place in the next 15 days. It will then enable the PCB to work out a long-term broadcasting deal with regular India series at its centre.The PCB’s opposition to the ICC’s original position paper that recommended a remodeling of the ICC’s administrative structure and its revenue distribution rested on the argument that it was against the principle of “equality.” However, following certain changes in the resolutions, as well as the possibility of playing India frequently led PCB to support the governance, finance and FTP changes in the ICC, which was driven entirely by the BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia.ESPNcricinfo understands that all the nine member boards have confirmed their earlier commitments with PCB until 2020 and are chalking out a fresh plan for the period from 2020 to 2023.The BCCI could look to slot in as many as six series against Pakistan, due to the gaps that are available in the existing FTP calendar.
