-Foi encomendada ao Tom uma música para um documentário sobre a vida do Pelé. A produtora que faria esta empreitada pediu que fizesse o arranjo desse tema. Assim que falaram com o Tom, logo ele me pediu para ir à casa dele, para mostrar a música e trocar ideias sobre o arranjo. Ele me perguntou as ideias que tive para o tema que, na verdade, ele não tinha terminado. Coisas do Tom… – e acrescentou:
-Lembro que enquanto tocava para eu aprender a música, até experimentava umas frases musicais para a segunda parte. Mas com a sua genialidade, o Tom rapidamente fechou a música e me entregou. Foi uma tarde maravilhosa, conversamos muito sobre música – complementou.

Produtor musical de trilhas da Rede Globo durante décadas, Roger Henri iria fazer também temas incidentais a partir da canção de Tom. Anos depois, ele contou que o fato do projeto não sair do papel trouxe uma frustração.
– O documentário acabou não sendo realizado. Ainda foi uma pena que eu demorei para enviar ao Tom o arranjo que eu fiz para a canção. Ele morreu sem conhecer a minha ideia para o tema dele. Mais tarde, ele foi para os Estados Unidos e chegou a gravar a música no seu último disco. E, infelizmente, para a nossa tristeza, o grande Tom Jobim nos deixou tão cedo – afirmou.
Autor do tema do “Supercine” e responsável pela produção musical de dezenas de novelas e minisséries da Rede Globo, entre elas “Lado a Lado” (vencedora do Emmy Internacional de melhor telenovela em 2013), o músico e produtor musical afirmou que seria uma grande chance do público saber mais da história de Pelé.
– Seria maravilhosa essa produção. Iria para os cinemas uma homenagem ao melhor jogador do mundo e embalada por uma música de Tom Jobim – constatou.
O TEMA DE TOM PARA PELÉ
O tema entrou para a discografia do “Maestro Soberano”. Lançado em 1994, “Antônio Brasileiro” traz a faixa instrumental “Radamés Y Pelé” (veja uma gravação acima). Em entrevista em agosto daquele ano à “Folha de São Paulo”, Tom foi sucinto ao falar da música na qual ele reverenciou tanto o “Rei do Futebol” quanto o maestro Radamés Gnatalli.
-Radamés foi um craque, Pelé é um craque. Quis homenagear os dois, meus amigos – afirmou.
A relação entre Pelé e Tom Jobim foi de admiração recíproca constante. Em encontro promovido pela revista “Manchete”, o Atleta do Século afirmou:
– Se eu sou o Rei, você é o Papa da Bossa-Nova.
Como foi publicado no Instagram do Instituto Antônio Carlos Jobim, o “Maestro Soberano” defendia o “Rei” de críticas e afirmou em uma entrevista:
– Queria ser o maestro Pelé. A maestria em qualquer negócio prova a licença de Deus. (…) O jogador é um melódico-harmônico que conhece a individualidade, suas possibilidades e a necessidade de esquecer qualquer vedetismo em troca de um efeito maior (o time). Pelé é tudo isso com música.
Em 8 de dezembro de 1994, Antônio Carlos Jobim morreu em Nova York aos 67 anos, depois de sofrer uma parada cardíaca enquanto se recuperava de uma operação na bexiga.

A number of overseas players are also due to feature in both leagues and may miss either the start of the PSL or the final stages of the ILT20, depending on the terms of their contracts and their franchises’ progress.The PCB unveiled fixtures for the PSL on Friday, with the tournament’s final scheduled for March 18. The knockout stages will be played in Karachi for the first time since 2020, which will host a total of 11 games. Lahore (nine games), Rawalpindi (nine) and Multan (five) will also stage fixtures, but neither Quetta nor Peshawar will.Zaka Ashraf, the chair of the PCB’s management committee, said: “The decision to host the marquee event across these cities is a testament to our commitment to bring top-notch cricket to fans across the country. كشف الإعلامي أحمد شوبير، كواليس ما تردد مؤخرًا عن وجود أزمة بين النادي الأهلي ولاعب الوسط الدولي إمام عاشور، بخصوص مفاوضات تجديد تعاقده مع القلعة الحمراء.
وأوضح شوبير، أن ما يتردد عن وجود خلافات بين الطرفين غير دقيق، مؤكدًا أن عقد إمام عاشور لا يزال يتبقى فيه 3 سنوات، وأن إدارة الأهلي بدأت بالفعل التحرك من الآن لتأمين استمرار اللاعب لفترة أطول، تقديرًا لقيمته الفنية الكبيرة داخل الفريق.
وقال شوبير خلال برنامجه الإذاعي صباح اليوم الأربعاء: “إمام عاشور يتبقى في عقده 3 سنوات، والأهلي يتحدث معه لكي يُجدد تعاقده، وهذا أمر طبيعي لنجم كبير في الفريق”، مؤكدًا أن المفاوضات تتم بهدوء وبدون أي ضغوط أو أزمات.

واختتم حديثه قائلاً: “التفاوض مستمر، وهناك وقت كافٍ للوصول إلى اتفاق نهائي.. الموضوع لا يتجاوز كونه خطوة استباقية لتأمين لاعب مهم”.

For much of this World Cup cycle, it is Pakistan’s top three with the bat who have generated the most encouraging headlines. And the trio has done that in abundance of late. Even as Afridi and Naseem took charge while opening the bowling against India in Pallekele last week, Rauf proved a touch expensive. But once the seam movement and swing began to fade, it was Rauf’s extra pace that provided Pakistan breakthroughs.Against Bangladesh on Wednesday, Shaheen and Naseem struck early, but when Naseem went down with an injury after a boundary dive went wrong, Rauf was there to chip in, taking two wickets off his first seven balls, and four overall. But in Faheem Ashraf, Pakistan found more control against Bangladesh, with the allrounder conceding just 27 in seven overs, as well as breaking the hundred-run fifth-wicket partnership, something which has now been Pakistan’s bane for two successive games.Faheem’s effectiveness has prompted Pakistan to stick with him for the game against India – they will be fielding an unchanged XI from their victory over Bangladesh – thus opting for more control, and the extra seamer over the spinner. Babar justified that call as one of “trying to keep our options open rather than being stuck to a combination”.But with Pakistan having travelled from Pallekele to Lahore and then to Colombo in the preceding week even as India stayed put in Sri Lanka, Babar brushed aside any concerns about fatigue. Newcastle United advanced their claim to secure a place in the Champions League next season with a 2-1 win over Brentford at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.
The Magpies took the lead through their star striker Alexander Isak, who bundled the ball in from around six yards out after Jacob Murphy whipped a terrific cross in.
Thomas Frank’s team found a leveller, though, after Nick Pope gave away a spot-kick and allowed Bryan Mbuemo to score from the spot to make it 1-1.
Eddie Howe’s men eventually found the winner in the second half when Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali scored a bizarre goal to seal all three points for the home team.
The Italy international found himself in a crossing position out by the corner flag on the right flank, with Joelinton, Callum Wilson, and Joe Willock all in the box awaiting a ball in from the former AC Milan man.
Instead of a cross, though, those three players watched a shanked effort fly into the roof of Mark Flekken’s net, as the Bees goalkeeper was caught out by what appears to have been a mishit from the central midfielder.
It caught everyone, perhaps even Tonali, by surprise but it is a piece of fortune that the Magpies will certainly take, as it puts them one step closer to securing a top-five finish in the Premier League.
The former Serie A dynamo may have secured himself a place as one of the undroppable stars, alongside Isak – who has scored 20 goals and started all 26 of his Premier League appearances, after scoring that either unbelievable or fluke of a goal.
Isak and Tonali are not the only Newcastle players who should be undroppable after that performance against the Bees, though, as Joelinton bossed the middle of the park.

Joelinton, who has started all 25 of his outings in the top-flight this season, reaffirmed why Howe has so much faith in him with a dominant defensive showing, winning six of his eight ground duels and six of his nine aerial contests.
The former Hoffenheim ace also won three tackles without being dribbled past a single time by a Brentford player, which shows that he was a man mountain in midfield for Newcastle.

As you can see in the table above, Joelinton was also far more efficient in possession in comparison to his midfield partners, whilst also outperforming them defensively.
The 28-year-old bruiser has consistently delivered on the defensive end all season with the most combined tackles, interceptions, and clearances (4.7) per game of any midfielder in the squad, providing Howe with an immovable anchor in the middle of the park.
Joelinton’s physicality allows the Magpies to take the game to opposition teams by pressing high and winning the ball back in great areas to create counter-attack opportunities for the likes of Isak and Murphy to make the most of.
He is, therefore, an undroppable cog in Newcastle’s machine, as further evidenced by his sensational display against the Bees, and Howe must continue to select him for the rest of the season.
