Crystal Palace fans have the same Michy Batshuayi idea after Wilfried Zaha report

[ad_pod ]

Plenty of Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have had the same cunning plan after a report in The Sun said that Chelsea are ready to bid £80m for want-away attacker Wilfried Zaha in January should they manage to overturn their transfer ban.

The Sun say that the Ivory Coast international reluctantly remained at Selhurst Park on deadline day having previously handed in a transfer request, but only until the next transfer window at the beginning of 2020.

The report adds that the Eagles’ London neighbours are confident they can escape their ban and be able to bring new players to Stamford Bridge in the New Year, and that they would be keen on a big-money move for the 26-year-old.

Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson’s men saw striker Michy Batshuayi link back up with the Blues at the end of the 2018/19 campaign following a successful loan spell with them in which he scored six goals in 13 appearances.

Given Palace failed to bring in a new striker before the deadline despite sending Alexander Sorloth out on a two-year loan, their supporters have spotted an opportunity to bring the Belgian back after The Sun report about Chelsea’s interest in their talisman.

Southampton outcast Mario Lemina is Monaco’s alternative to Tiemoue Bakayoko

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to France Football, Southampton outcast Mario Lemina is an option for Monaco if they cannot lure their former midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko back to France.

What’s the word, then?

Well, after reportedly being open to selling the Gabon international in the summer window, Southampton are seemingly keen to offload the former Juventus man, who cost them £18.1m in 2017.

The 25-year-old appears to no longer be wanted at St Mary’s by Ralph Hasenhuttl having been left out of the matchday squad in both of the Saints’ Premier League games so far this season – he isn’t even injured, so his absence is purely Hasenhuttl’s decision.

You could argue that they miss Lemina having lost both of those games, although all the signs suggest that the side from the coast want him gone.

Should be hoping for the Bakayoko deal to break down

If Bakayoko does successfully end up back in Ligue 1 with Monaco, Lemina will most likely be stuck at Southampton at least until January, with the transfer window for European clubs set to close on September 2nd.

France Football reports that €15m (£13.7m) should be enough for Monaco to buy Lemina if they do decide to move for him, and the Saints should be praying that the French side cannot strike a deal with Bakayoko so that they can finally offload the unwanted man.

They would already be making a small loss if they did sell for €15m (£13.7m), and considering Southampton reportedly want to sell him coupled with his absence from the team, you could argue that his price tag will drop even lower come the January window.

In order to get as much money as possible for Lemina, the Saints should be hoping that Chelsea do not allow Bakayoko to go to Monaco.

Tottenham fans want to sign Jadon Sancho after two-goal England display

[ad_pod ]

Jadon Sancho scored his first goals in an England shirt in his country’s amazing 5-3 win against Kosovo at St Mary’s on Tuesday night, and Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter were clamouring for their club to sign the winger.

The 19-year-old was handed a start by Gareth Southgate on the south coast as he continues to make waves for Borussia Dortmund, with his current record for the Bundesliga giants standing at 17 goals and 27 assists in 60 appearances in all competitions, despite still being in his teenage years.

The wide man brought that form with him for the Three Lions, netting a brace while also providing the cross from which Mergim Vojvoda put through his own net.

While Spurs do have some pace on the flanks in the form of Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min, they have very rarely had the same effect that Sancho and Raheem Sterling did in the opening 45 minutes on Tuesday night.

The former looks to have a massive career ahead of him, and one Tottenham supporter urged his club to “spend the whole summer budget on him”.

Another said they would “prefer him to Dybala”, who of course came close to joining the north London outfit on transfer deadline day before a move eventually broke down.

Rangers fans react as Brandon Barker nears Ibrox switch

[ad_pod ]

Manchester City winger Brandon Barker looks set to make a permanent move to Rangers according to Herald Times and Sport, and the fans have been quick to have their say on the report.

Barker will leave the Premier League champions on a free transfer to link up with Steven Gerrard’s side this summer, per the report. The former Hibs loanee is on his way to Glasgow as he gets closer to a return to Scottish football.

The wide-man was most recently plying his trade in the English second tier under former Hamilton boss Alex Neil while on loan at Preston North End. Barker struggled for game time at Deepdale and only scored twice – both goals arriving in the EFL Cup – in his 20 appearances for the Championship side.

The Gers fans aren’t pleased with his potential signing, knowing his patchy record during his short career. Some supporters aren’t pleased that their club are chasing a player who didn’t set the world alight at Hibs.

Others think Barker’s addition to the current crop makes for a poor set of wide options at Ibrox this season.

Wolves fans rave about Adama Traore after game-changing substitute appearance

[ad_pod ]

Wolves held Manchester United to a draw on Monday night but that was mainly down to the heroics of two players.

The visitors took the lead in the 27th minute through an Anthony Martial strike before Ruben Neves tied things up with a stunning long-range effort which cannoned in off the crossbar.

United then won a penalty which Paul Pogba stepped up to take but his attempt was well-saved by goalkeeper Rui Patricio, ensuring that Wolves walked away with at least a point at Molineux.

The game turned on its head at half-time as Adama Traore replaced Matt Doherty at right wing-back after the break – his withdrawal was after a discussion with the club doctor having struggled during the first 45 minutes.

Traore’s impact has drawn serious praise from not only his boss Nuno Santo but also from plenty of the Molineux faithful.

One supporter claimed it was his best performance in a Wolves shirt yet, saying he smashed it whilst others lauded him for changing the match, one of which believed he had such a big impact because he’s unstoppable when he’s in full stride.

A further fan said he would give him a start against Burnley on Sunday with another stating that Traore is flourishing at right wing-back.

Everton should make move for Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser according to Tim Sherwood

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Tim Sherwood has tipped Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser for a future at a top six club, but believes Everton could be the next step in his career.

What did he say?

Fraser has started the season slowly in comparison to 2018/19, when he received many plaudits for his performances and his seven goals and 14 assists in the Premier League.

Despite adding Alex Iwobi over the summer and boasting a plethora of wing options, Sherwood told Sky Sports’ The Debate, via HITC, that the Scotland international would be a good fit at Goodison, and since he is available on a free next summer it is a move which could make a lot of sense from a financial perspective also.

As reported by HITC, Sherwood said: “It’s important for him to go somewhere and not have two years off.

“The next move for him, and no disrespect to Bournemouth, is one just underneath [the top six]. Like a Leicester or an Everton. And then he’s still young enough to make that next step.”

Arsenal’s reported interest in the winger this summer shows the pedigree he has, and if Everton were able to persuade him to sign him it would be a bit of a coup.

Likelihood of success

On the surface, the free agent signing of Fraser would be low risk for the potential of huge reward for Everton, but there are possible problems which could arise should he join.

Firstly, he is not guranteed game time given the presence of Iwobi, Richarlison and Bernard in the squad, and that would place greater pressure on him to perform when he does get his chance, and so far he is untested in that area.

At the Cherries he is a big fish in a small pond and that suits him well. He is one of Eddie Howe’s main attacking outlets and much of Bournemouth’s play goes through him.

He has also built up a brilliant understanding with his teammates, particularly Callum Wilson, with the two combining for 12 league goals last season, the highest amount of any other partnership in the division and the second-highest in Premier League history.

At Everton he would have to adjust to new surroundings, different players and bigger expectations, and could struggle with tighter restrictions on his freedom to roam around the pitch.

Despite that, his assist record has improved recently and that shows he is not a winger who bases his game solely on his pace, so he would be a very good option for Marco Silva to have next season.

Real Madrid fans sent into meltdown by injury update on Luka Modric

It really is raining injuries over in the Spanish capital at the moment.

Saying that Real Madrid were quite unlucky with various fitness problems in the last couple of weeks would be an understatement. Currently, there are six players sidelined and unavailable to Zinedine Zidane.

But there were only five until recently when it was officially confirmed that Luka Modric has been diagnosed with a muscle injury to the adductor in his right leg as Los Blancos’ streak of bad luck looks to have continued.

And the fans have just about had enough of it, as it seems from their latest social media activity.

Upon learning about the latest injury to their Croatian midfielder, they simply lost it and couldn’t believe this was happening all over again.

They quickly took to Twitter to express their disappointment, anger and sadness as some claimed they were “totally done” and wanted the season restarted.

You can see some of their replies down in the collection of tweets below.

Rangers fans react as UEFA announce partial Ibrox closure

Rangers have been ordered by UEFA to close at least 3,000 seats for the return leg of their tie with Legia Warsaw, and the fans have been split into two camps.

The closure relates to “racist behaviour, which includes sectarian singing” from supporters during the clash against St. Joseph’s last month.

The European football governing body have also threatened further punishment, including full stadium closure and a big fine, should there be a further breach from the club.

The greatest player ever to grace the Scottish Premiership is revealed in the video below…

The ruling means the Ibrox capacity will be reduced for the vital Europa League play-off with the Poles next week, with the tie in the balance at 0-0. The partial closure and clear warning from UEFA has split the Gers fans into two camps.

Some believe that there’s no problem with their songbook and that the governing body are out of order with their ban, poking their nose somewhere they don’t belong.

Others think that it will be a big positive for the club if they can move past some of the chants that they’ve been penalised for.

Here’s how the split fanbase reacted to the punishment on Twitter:

Birmingham City: Fans are showing love for Bobby

Sometimes supporters are reminded that there are far more important things than football, with the sport itself, at times, helping bring that to attention.

This is one of those scenarios, as young Birmingham City fan Bobby has been fighting a brain tumour for four years and has now finished his chemotherapy, as shown on Birmingham’s official Twitter account.

The club gave Bobby a few treats to mark the occasion, including a season ticket and he got quite the reception at his first game, when the Blues faced Bristol City:

The game ended in a 1-1 draw, with Bobby’s favourite player Lukas Jutkiewicz getting Birmingham’s goal, before Tommy Rowe equalised late on.

While it will have been frustrating to concede the goal in the 83rd minute, being able to share the game with Bobby will have cheered many up.

A selection of Twitter reaction to Bobby’s reception, including posts from proud Birmingham fans, can be seen below:
